Stranger Days

2 min read

Hey all, it's been a minute since I posted anything here. I feel like mostly I'm becoming a watcher here since most of the stuff I'm working on is NSFW and goes to my other profile. Mostly I finished my studio, but then I somehow just flatlined on creativity. Its like my muse went out for a smoke break and never came back D:>. I'm struggling to put anything together and even sketching has become a chore. Maybe I spread myself thin?????

Then I jumped ship from on job to a new and it was like I got whiplash from it. I think my brain is trying to recover itself. I don't know. Honestly, I think this is just temporary. I hate not being able to get up in the morning and not be creating something. I don't know. Also, I'm trying to get working with mediums I haven't worked on in a dog's age, so my perception might be skewed by my perfectionist nature.

My first attempts get crushed by my inner critic because "not perfect". Yeah, nothing is going to be perfect right out the gate, especially if you haven't worked on it almost 8 years. I'm quite rusty to be honest. I also feel like I'm still missing critical infrastructure in my shop to start making things. Or maybe I'm just more enamored with my wild daydreams about building cool stuff that the reality is a shock to the system.

But on the upside, I taught my nephew about painting today. So that's a start. I showed him how to mix acrylic paint so he could customize some trains he has. I think that's the silver lining of this whole mess. Watching him mix the paint and learning together was a fun experience. He was so happy. Maybe that's what I need to break this curse of "perfect".

Art Status

1 min read

Hey all, I've been getting a few notes and requests from folks about what my current art status is. I'm a bit scatterbrained and I forget to post it or reply back. Currently I'm closed on everything, likely until next year as I'm working on my art studio out back. I had hoped to have it ready by June, but things happened, and jobs changed. I fell behind and then the brutal end of summer hit, so I couldn't get in there as it was too hot to work safely outside. I still have to run electrical out there as I'm on a generator when I can go out. I'll likely be working on insulating it over the next month before the winter hits. Fingers crossed I can get it finished.

So to sum it up (as they say today tl;dr):

Commissions - closed, i'm working on pricing and such.

Art Trades - with close friends if time permits.

Requests - closed currently.

Earthquake!

2 min read

WOOO! I felt that one! We just had a tremor earlier today and I felt it as I was going to grab something to drink while I was sketching. My pictures were shaking, and I felt the earth moving under my feet. My whole family felt it as well. Some friends reached out to us and said they felt it as far north as Lubbock!

It was pretty strong, only 8 miles from our sister city. At first, I was seeing it was a magnitude 4.3, but the USGS said it was closer to a magnitude 6! It would be the strongest quake recorded in Texas! Now Texas isn't known for being geologically active, quakes are super rare, but when they happen it wakes everyone up! This was my first quake ever! I've been close to tornadoes, but this was the first time I felt a quake even when I was in L.A.

I knew that the Texas Oil Country is over a fault or two, because oil resides there, not sure why but it does. But that's the first time I felt one since living out here in the sticks. Wow.

In other news, I'm still recovering from my surgery and I'm doing better by the day. I go back to my full duties next year. For now I'm restricted to 10 - 20 lbs. of weight every time I lift things.

In Recovery

1 min read

Hey all, I'm currently in recovery from my surgery this last week. I'm working on creative stuff while I'm recovering and moving around again. My mom is proud of me that even after such a major surgery that I'm up and moving around on my own. My body is actually getting back to normal, slowly but surely. I looked like I was about to birth a blue whale from how swollen my liver had gotten and now I'm back down a full pants size to before the surgery. I'll be updating more on what I'm up to as time goes on. I hope you all are doing well.

Conventions?

1 min read
Just out of curiousity, how many would come out if I was vendor at fur con or horror con? I'm thinking of maybe having prints of favorite images and a few other cool goodies you couldn't get anywhere else. Mostly I'm aiming at local Texas based con's just to start, but gradually move up to the big fur con in my second home of Pittsburgh, Anthrocon. So I'm thinking up a few goodies to take along and have at my table. I'm also thinking of hitting up horror conventions for nonfurry works as well. Just an idea, regardless I'm still thinking it out. :D
