Plug me in!

Description

The newer version of my DIY Stompbox Electra Distortion with improved circuitry!

Included is a breadboard experimenter board which allows me to move and even expand my design as needed. Armed with a new 2N3904 NPN transistor at it's core, it sounds fantastic! Rather than destroy the original design, I recycled many of the part I could that didn't snap when untangled and clipped off the damaged leads to set them in place. Once all wired up, I fired it up and it began to roar!

The sound is unbelievable! When hooked up to my Marshall Amp, this little guy delivered sound so loud I could swear the amp was on 4 or 5 instead of 2 - 2.5. On the Gain Channel, it was a bit louder but gave it a nice boost that the chords broke up way earlier on gain 5. Even with the pedal all the way at the end, the guitar came in crystal clear and loud! I can barely strum the strings and it was like the amp was ahead of me in bringing the sound. Crazy!

I'm no rocket scientist but the LED's deliver some crazy good sound, like an older tube amp on clean setting. It feels like my tube Marshall amp with the boost on in terms of how responsive the circuit was when I strummed it. With a little force on the strings, the circuit would break up nicely and give a classic rock sound without the harshness of the hard clipping normally heard with this pedals. With some improvements, I can definitely see what new sounds I can get :D.

If anyone is interested I'll be adding a schematic for download once this picture is up. :D

Bug fixes:
- Improved circuit design (fewer wires and more stable setup)
- Removed the 470 - ohm resistor, LED's now straight to ground

Need to do:
- Rewire the Volume Control :lmao: with the signal in on the right hand side and the ground on the left.
- Add power indicator LED
- Add bypass/power switch
- ROCK ON.
